Three kinds of output, one institution.

AESC is an independent, non-partisan institution producing analysis, open economic data and expert conversation about Afghanistan's economy. Its credibility rests on being verifiable: every number has to arrive with its source, its period and its unit.

Three outputs that behave differently had to live in one place: long-form research with named authors, a queryable data hub of trade indicators, and a recorded talk series. Each has its own audience and its own reading pattern.

The institution publishes in English and Persian for readers who move between the two, so the site had to be composed twice rather than translated once, including the numerals and the data interface.

A structure that makes evidence easy to check.

The need was architectural: give the three pillars equal standing, put live data where a first-time visitor sees it, and make sourcing part of the layout rather than a footnote. Alongside that, a restrained institutional identity - a mark, a type hierarchy and a component set that holds across research pages, data views and video, in both scripts.

An institutional system, not a website skin.

Identity, a reusable interface system, and a data experience where the sourcing is visible at the point of reading.

  1. 01

    Brand identity

A mark and institutional identity built for citation rather than campaigns.

    • Logo and lockup
    • Institutional type hierarchy
    • Restrained navy and neutral palette
    • Persian and Latin composition rules
  2. 02

    Website and design system

A component set that carries research, data and video without inventing a new layout each time.

    • Six-section architecture
    • Research index and article pages
    • Author and publication structures
    • Reusable card, table and indicator components
  3. 03

    Data experience

A data hub with the query controls in view and the source attached to every figure.

    • Indicator, period, region and partner filters
    • Treemap, bar and table views of the same data
    • Trade partners, composition, map, time series, border points
    • Period, unit and source printed on each figure

The same institution, twice.

Persian is a composed right-to-left edition, not a translation layer: the panel order, the data interface and the numeral system all mirror. The data hub shows how the sourcing rule works in practice.

Data hub — trade partners. Filters above, three views of one dataset, and every value carrying its period and source.

Institutional-grade structure, in two scripts, around real data.

AESC is the clearest evidence that KARNOVA can build a complete system - identity, component library, information architecture and a data interface - to a standard where accuracy is the design constraint, and deliver it bilingually.
